The DS4 is great ergonomically, in my opinion anyway, and has few flaws... EXCEPT, it's battery life. If long 5+ hour gaming sessions are a thing for you, you'll need at least 2 of them (so one can always be charging).

This is what I do when I plan on playing long sessions:

I got my new controller back from Sony warranty replacement today and the material on the thumbsticks is definitely different. I compared it to my other controller I have and the old one is a softer material where the new one is much firmer.

I like the new thumbsticks even tho they are no where near as comfy as the old one. I still put the gel tabz on it just in case.

Customer support was very good also. All they asked was what happened, when I bought it, my psn ID and my email address. It took exactly a week from the day I shipped the old one til I got the replacement in the mail. They over night shipped the controller via FedEx also which is nice.

Anyone with a old controller that's wearing thin on the sticks should call Sony. It cost me $6 to ship it to them and they covered the rest. I also suggest those gel tabz or grip itz. For $8 you can keep your sticks looking new and not have to go thru this hassle.

Do you think I can just walk up to my Best Buy where I bought the PS4 with my receipt and controller, and they'd replace it? Controller's battery isn't charging correctly (must've gotten a faulty one).

Should I do that with BB or should I go to Sony? Don't really feel like paying $6 for something Sony messed up on.

If it is within best buy's return window they should be able to swap it. If not then you have no choice, replace through Sony.

How long does Best Buy's return window span? I'd check my receipt but not at home atm.

Used to be 30 days, not so sure now...probably less if anything. If you didn't get the extended warranty then you'll most likely have to ship it back to Sony.

i replaced mine through sony and it was very simple. i just had to pay for shipping to them but the whole process was painless.

mine wouldn't hold a charge either and it wouldn't even worked when plugged in to the console.

you could always buy a controller, and then return the broken one if you wanna be a little sleazy about it. I wouldn't feel too bad doing it to a big terrible store like best buy.

I kind of like best buy, they even price match amazon.

I believe their return policy is 30days from the date of purchase.

I have an Xbox One and am not too happy with its performance and lack of game choices.

It seems they made it very hard for developers to create content because of strict coding guidelines and the requirement to tap into their new app marketplace that needs some fine tuning before it builds momentum.

Once Microsopft gets more developers though, be in for a nice ride, but I feel by the time that happens the Playstation 5 will be out rendering The Xbox One obsolete unless they reintroduce it with better specs.

well since both consoles are x86 based, wouldn't that mean better backwards compatibility for both? I can see them releasing a xbone plus or something that still plays all the xbone games, but also xbone plus games (or something dumb like that). I only see this happening if ps4 really starts outperforming the xbone, but I dont see that happening as games are pretty much almost the same on both, and most people are too dumb to see a difference.

Well Future Shop and Best Buy are th eonly good electronics shops up here in Canada and funnily enough Best Buy owns Future Shop (they bought them back a few years ago) so you don't have much of a choice between the two- there's some times I dislike Best Buy because of the selection they have, and then other times I do like them because of the sales they have. One thing I noticed though, if you shop for computer parts, don't bother with Best Buy, I have NCIX and Memory Express for that.

I bought a new soundbar for my Sony Bravia TV the other day, the clerk said I have 30 days to take it back if I don't like it, pretty good.

OF COURSE you don't shop for computer parts there. They'll carry a mid-range GeForce or two, then a couple of ultra-turd Radeons you shouldn't ever buy. I don't think mine carries a single board or processor. The only things to buy at Best Buy are overpriced storage and peripherals when you need an emergency replacement.

Or when they have an open Box keyboard or mouse that you get for 25% off.

I don't really care for the peripherals mine carries. I wouldn't mind trying the Steelseries Apex, but they want $100 for it, and I've yet to see it under about $80 online. I ended up with a CM Devastator mouse+keyboard combo (just wanted the keyboard) for $30, as it's backlit and has media keys (the only things I cared about).

I've not seen open box peripherals at my store though, maybe that makes some things worth it. All I buy at Best Buy is CDs (only semi-reliable option here) and video games (20% off new games with GCU) now.

A while back I grabbed a Razer Mamba for 15% off. Also now that I think about it, my Klipsch Pro Media 5.1 were purchased at best buy and it was the last one they had and the box was damaged. They gave me $30 off.

I'll buy movies from them often, they are the only local retailer that reliably gets Blu-Rays in stock on release day. Amazon charges me tax now and I'm not a prime member so the benefit of them is no longer there. I'll also occasionally buy a game from them since they match online competitors too.
