Now what kind of performance games will i see running dual channel DDR 400 with nice timings as compared to what i have now.

-->You'll get about 5% more performance simply due to the fact that you'll be running dual-channel. In games like Far Cry where they use up over 700MB of RAM while running, you will notice that they will run much smoother and your system won't lag as you move to new parts of the levels. Games will also load up much much faster and your system will perform better overall (not just games).

How in the world is a single HDD better than 2 in a RAID 0!?!?

-->Lower seek times. The 36GB raptor has a 5.8ms seek time whereas the 74GB model has a 4.2 or something. I'm probably wrong on the figures, but the single 74GB drive will beat out the RAID-0 36GB drives in most situations that you would notice as a gamer, such as load times.

How is a PCI card slower than an integrated Audio Solution. Wouldn't using a non onboard chip take a bit of load of the CPU as the creative audigy series have the EMU10K1 (that might be SB Live ).

-->I don't know "how" or "why" it's faster, all I know is that it is. Someone posted benchmarks on here once and the Soundstorm used very little CPU. Remember that the Soundstorm is a seperate APU (audio processing unit) that is soldered onto your motherboard. It is totally seperate from the CPU. Like I said, it is said to be as powerful as an Audigy.

Any special difference in 3dmarks or anything 🙂

That was a very well put together post. NICE!! If the board wasn't using Soundstorm then it would definately be beneficial to use a seperate Sound Card? So i have a Sound Blaster Live 5.1 Digital Sitting around and a Geforce 2 Ti w/64mb DDR Ram lying around. How much do you think i could get for all that. 40 possibly 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 hopefully lol.

Thx,

Kevin

Oh yeah i forgot to mention. I would definately OC my Video Card farther but Coolbits wont let me. I haven't gotten any Artifacts or anything at this level and i wanna see if it can make it to 850 memery. Anyone know how i can get by this little thing?

if you aren't close to filling up 20 gigs of your HD, then spend the money on games, not hardware. Also, it sounds as though you are a casual gamer, No upgrade is required then. When it is required, you'll know it.

Nope sure as hell not a casual gamer. Just a gamer on an extremely limited budget.... im only 16 🙂 and i just got a job. Yeah i definately need another bit o memory and a faster HDD. After that does eveything else look good.

after those two things there is nothing that needs to be upgraded and even the HDD is a stretch

Lol no dont get me wrong i got plenty of money. I would just rather play the games i have at awesome detail before going out and buy a new game. Im conserving my money for the hardware. Software comes later.

Keep the suggestions coming

I can easily afford this as i payed for this entire computer myself and 7 other computers before that. Ah... good ol 486 (a WHOPPIN 66mhz)

I use Powerstrip for all my overclocking and graphical needs. (I use my pc as an HTPC and a gaming PC). That will definately let you go higher. If you can check what kind of RAM you have on that 5900XT, then you make a good estimate to how far it will overclock. IF its 2.2ns Hynix, then your pretty much guaranteed to be able to flash your card to 5950 Ultra BIos. This is, btw, one of the reasons that makes the 5900XT just as good as the Radeon 9800 Pro, and the fact that its cheaper helps.

get yourself at least an 80GB hard drive!!!! i'm shocked you have this really fast system running off a crappy 20GB hard drive

That old WD 856mb HD might be slowing down your HD bus. The IDEs will run at the slowest rate of DMA 33/66/100/133. If you have a PIO drive on the bus that will really slow things down. You could use a new HD. Try to keep that fastest HD on the primary master IDE without another 'slower' drive as a slave. Your windows install should be on the fastest HD.
