WKCR's 7 day non-stop 24/7 Ornette Coleman tribute.
I'm going to do a one hour Ornette Coleman tribute on my show on radio KALX, 90.7 FM, streaming here, tomorrow (Monday, June 15) from 4-5PM PDT. I've known about Ornette Coleman ever since the 1960's, have played his records many times on my radio shows, but don't have a sense of what would be a sensitive, smart, reasonably inclusive 1 hour sampling of his music. We do have lots of his records at the station including the complete Atlantic recordings box set, which includes "The Shape of Jazz to Come." I'll certainly play something(s) off that. I'd appreciate suggestions of what I might include in my one hour special on Ornette Coleman.
