Ok ive decided against the hipzip...I'm now considering buying a RaveMP 2300 from sensory science or a cd player that can read mp3s and was wondering if any one out there had one of these and would be willing to tell me what they thought about it. Is it worth it? Hows the sound quality etc? Thanks.

I would not buy anything from Iomega!!!! I have had 100 MB Zips, 250 MB Zips and Jaz drives all die losing the data. R.
 
odd bacuae ive works with zip100s for over a year and never had any problems and know others with jaz drives who have never had any problems...thanks for the input tho, anyone else have any ideas?
 
If you want an MP3 player based on Clik! discs, get the Sensory Science raveMP 2300. They're a much more established portable audio company (this is their 6th or so MP3 player), and they use better components (eg. Sennheiser earbuds). I bought my sister a Philips Expanium MP3 CD player and I like it a lot. .. it has very good quality ... and I trust Philips ... ; )
 
depends. how much motion are you gunna have, and where are you gunna use it?

For active stuff.. i found even w/ 40 sec anti skip... i can't use a cd player.. and an mp3 player is easier for me to lug around.

I'm on campus so i'm always walking, and changing songs isn't a hassle IMO. It fits in my coat pocket.

tho, i may be takin a trip to canada so i wish i had a cd player for more songs...

 
dont really have to have something with high anti skip so thats not an issue,

but im curious about what you mean by not being able to carry more songs with your mp3 player...you must not have the 2300 else you could upgrade with more clik disks, or have i misunderstood? just curious, trying to get all the viewpoints i can..thanks

personally, i wouldn't buy anything w/ the name "click" from iomega 😛

If you want small, go mp3, cd/mp3 players imo are too big (any portable cd for that matter)
 
yea i know their bulky and all but the samll ones are expensive or their memory expansion is expensive, thats why im looking into either clik or cd mp3 players for the cheap media.

just wondering what problems youve had to hate the clik disks so much?
 
i have but since they dont do mp3s i want to stick with something that does,
ive done lots of reading on MD players and they sound good but i dont want to have to hassle with converting mp3s so i can carry them with me
 
click refering to the infamous "click of death"... i just found their naming scheme to be extremely stupid. They really shouldn't have gone thru w/ releasing a product w/ the same name as the problems w/ their other products.

Dunno about the reliablity of clic disks tho. but if you want cheap, mp3-cd is the best way to go. Wish I had one right now actually.. gotta make a run up to canada... and my mp3 player can only squeeze about 30 or so songs on 64 mb (WMA 64bit.. hey, shush, it still sounds ok for what I need).

 
You don't have to convert the mp3s to stick em on Minidisk.
just plug an soundcard output into the MD's input. Load up a playlist, set the automatic record thingymabob on the MD and hit play in Winamp. That's it.
only problem is the slowass realtime but that doesn't bother some people, as you can record a bunch ahead of time and take several MDs with you

thats just the thing for me that made me ditch my minidisc stuff... i'm too impatient 🙂 In the end, i ended up w/ an emusic NomadII, sold the 32MB and bout a 64MB for $60.. so a grand total of $80 + new headphones i got free.
 
I'm getting the MP3 CD player from computer geeks. My roommate has one and uses it in his car and for his stereo as a pluggin. They work well, only problem is no ID3 Tag support, but almost no MP3 players have them. They scan discs fast, and playback is very good. For me, it's the difference between having 100 regular cds in my car or 10 MP3 cds. I haven't bought a car dash MP3 player yet because I'm waiting for some quality units to come out. (ha ha 'unit')

In my opinion, the CD player is the way to go, even more if you have a burner. Blank discs cost $.10, can't beat it. Put 160 singles on a CD and listen to it for seven or eight hours, especially if you don't need the shock protection.
 
How about the new Memorex CD/MP3 player with ID3 tag support? You can find it at amazon.com (~$110) or your local target (~$90+tax). Do a search in the forums to see the discussions about it.
