Are we talking about movies with popular music as the soundtrack? Or instrumental?

Transformers!

I'm go glad they made that movie in the 80's. So many good rock songs, and Weird Al!

As for recent scores I like, I watched "Monster" last night, and DJ BT did a great job composing the score for that.

My favorite composer is Hans Zimmer. Some of his better works include Backdraft, Black Hawk Down, Broken Arrow, Castaway, Crimson Tide, Gladiator, Hannibal, Mission: Impossible II, The Prince of Egypt, Rain Man, The Rock, The Thin Red Line, etc.

Oh you sweet, sweet man. I am in  The best use of music in a movie I've ever seen is when they're at the end of the movie chasing down Magua after the burning at the stake.

Probably gonna get flamed for this but I have to say it... Star Wars Ep IV

John Williams has no master when it comes to evocative music that paints a picture in you mind that matches whats on the screen.

Not great but The Punisher had some pretty good songs on it. Oh, and Beavis and Butthead Do America soundtrack was pretty good IMO.

As Fingolfin probably knows, this movie was filmed very close to where he lives - Asheville, NC at a small, privately owned park called Chimney Rock. It is beautiful country. I have walked on the very cliff where Magua bites it. At the base of Chimney Rock is Lake Lure - the place they filmed Dirty Dancing. It is a really great place to spend the weekend.

No flames here. I was actually going to say The Empire Strikes Back. A New Hope started it all, but The Empire Strikes Back has such an expanded, humongous range of themes and textures that I feel it has no equal. And I own well over 200 orchestral scores.

Oh good God. That's less than a five hour drive from me :) It's my favourite movie of all time I think. My brothers would get a huge kick out of me taking a picture up on that rock - so it's easy to get up there? I'm dead serious now that I want to do it.

The road to the park is steep and curvy, so if you are not used to that type of driving it can be really gut-wrenching. Look here for more information. Once you get over the mountain, you enter a resort area with plenty of bed 'n breakfasts, motels, etc.

EDIT: This is not a park for people who are afraid of heights. Be warned.
