What Mouse Do You Use For FPS???

Hello, I need a new mouse, and I was thinking of an optical mouse. I play mostly FPS and MMORPGs, so I need to be able to move the mouse as quick as possible (for the FPS anyway). Well, I was thinking of an optical mouse, but when I tried the optical IntelliMouse at Best Buy I found it would jump around and skip if I moved it too fast. Now this would most certainly get me killed in a game. The surface was dull too, not shiny. Does anyone else have this problem? And yes, it was the 2nd edition mouse too. What do the rest of you use for FPS? Optical or Ball? Thanks.

trackball, NEVER have to lift your mouse off again. Much faster just lifting your thumb off...

I'm using the Microsoft IntellieMouse Optical. It works wonderfully for me. I just hope to get a ratzpad or surface 1030 for it soon. Stuck with the 3M PMS. :)

Logitech Mouseman Optical, it has the "Second generation" optical sensor with 2,000 refreshes per second. Before this I had the Logitech Mouseman standard, it was great too but cleaning constantly was annoying.

I use the Mouseman Wheel Optical... and I consider myself a rather hardcore gamer. I had a Intelli Explorer... it was good but IMO the logitech is much better, fits my hand better.

I got a cheap logitech wheel mouse, not the best, but it fit's your hand suprisingly well. I'd probably stick with logitech just cause this one is good and was cheap too.

I use a Logitech Cordless Wheel Mouse, yes i know... :( It makes it really hard to aim in counterstrike. I also tried using a Logitech Optical and damn that mouse is so smooth in fps.

Hmm ok, maybe it was just the demo machine or mouse at Best Buy that jumped around then. I think I'll go with a logitech optical and ratpad. Thanks for the input everyone. And to the person wondering whether it's 2nd gen or not, I'd think that any mouse you bought now would be 2nd gen from a store, not sure on internet tho.

I've tried both the Microsoft Intellimouse with IntelliEye (like the old Intellimouse wheel, but optical) and the Logitech Optical Wheel mouse and the Logitech mouse could take faster mouse movements than the Microsoft without "going wild." I plan on getting this mouse when I find a really good deal to replace my 3-year old Intellimouse wheel that started squeaking again (just sometimes when I roll it around. Ball tracking is fine, but the vibrations from the squeaking are annoying). I prefer the small easier-to-grip size of the Logitech Wheel mouse and Microsoft Intellimouse (instead of the larger Logitech Mouseman and Microsoft Intellimouse Optical or Explorer), but can appreciate the better tracking of the Logitech mouse with 2nd generation tracking. Though, I haven't tried any optical Microsoft mice with the improved tracking yet.
