I'm just wondering becuase I might be getting a striped raid setup soon. Do only server MB's support 66mhz pci?

66mhz PCI

Do you mean 64BIT pci?

It is almost all dualies in either server or workstation categores, yep. The only single-CPU board I was able to think of was the Supermicro X5SSE-GM, but it's a server board (no AGP). edit: and oops, it uses a 64-bit 33MHz PCI bus, now that I look closer.

Mhz, dude. There's no such thing as 66bit anything.

I meant 64bit :p

Isnt a 64bit PCI slot the long one thats like double the size of a 32bit?

or is that 66mhz or 33mhz etc etc

Aghhh losing my mind :(

There are various combinations of PCI bit-ness and clockspeed. They are as follows:
  • 33 MHz / 32 bit
  • 66 MHz / 32 bit
  • 33 MHz / 64 bit
  • 66 MHz / 64 bit
PCI-X also has higher MHz speeds on a 64 bit bus, going up to 133MHz, IIRC.

Oh right, kewl :)

I know absoloutley ah heck all about PCI clocks etc,

Im guessing the faster the mhz'z the faster you can run things etc, just like with agp & FSB clocks etc right?

Yeah, it's just like jliechty says. There are several variaties of PCI. The higher clockspeed, higher width variants are faster of course. There's also such a thing as PCI-X which is even faster but I'm not too knowledgeable about that. Then there's PCI Express which really isn't anything like PCI technology wise but nonetheless is the crowned heir to PCI and AGP.
