Hello guys
It's been a long while since my upgrade and I lost the edge regarding MB. Last one I had was the MSIk7T133A. I was thinking of an upgrade. I wanna stick with Asus. I found the a7m266 and a7v333 to be almost the same price. Can anyone help? You can come with ur suggestions on other models too.
Thx

I'd like to recommend Soltek's new SL-75DRV5 (Purple Ray) VIA KT333. It's pretty inexpensive, around $100, and you can get great deals at newegg.com. It comes with a lot of software, and a neat temperature moniter that you can use in windows. I highly recommend this motherboard, but if you don't like it, newegg.com is a great place to do your shopping.

I`m using the Epox 8KHA+ board and can tell you it`s rock stable with my XP 1700+ ,very easy to setup with only one jumper to worry about(100/133 fsb) .The newer Epox 8K3A(Via KT333) is another good choice with very good reviews.

I personally would not go with Asus, there`s nothing wrong with their boards just lots of other good brands at a cheaper price with excellent stability,in the end it`s your money your choice.

I also have an Epox 8KHA+ in one of my machines(I'm a SETI nut!) and it's been running great with an XP1800+. It took a little while to work out what memory timing would work the best, but that's one thing this board has: Options! :) There's alot of configuring to be done in this board, nothing like the lower end ECS K7S5A boards. And the Epox board wasn't too badly priced either - do realize though it's not the newest thing out there, so other boards with newer chipsets may indeed have some advantages. ;)

I am using a nforce chip. Asus A7N266C it's a very good mobo. But, it's a new chip and got some pb with ide controler, sound on 4.1 and 5.1 not fix anymore. It's so stable !! I don't regret my choice.

First I want to thank you guys. I am now considering the Epox since a lot of people are recommending it. I still have one question though, what if I can get the asus at the same price as the Epox, would u still recommend the epox?
Besides, the 8KHA+ is a KT266 while the Asus is a KT333 chipset? what are the pro of the KT333?

Oops I edited instead of replying...I was wondering what are the pros of the KT333 compared to the KT266A. Anyone knows?

Actually the Epox 8KHA+ is a VIA KT266A board which supports PC1600(DDR 100mhz) & PC2100(DDR 133mhz) ram,the KT333 boards officially supports PC2700 ram( DDR 166mhz RAM) as well,in benchmarks the KT333 is slightly faster by only few percent or so,remember all AMD CPU`s still run on 200/266 mhz FSB, so you won`t see any real big advantage of the KT333 boards at the moment.

basically the kt333 has everything the kt266a had,

but the kt333 also has a newer/faster memory controller (even faster then the kt266a when they both use pc2100) the kt333 supports ddr pc 2700, it also has ata133 support (the kt266a is only ata100)
