1) What is your budget?
2) You're looking for a traditional CRT not a flat LCD panel display, right?

To add to RossMAN's questions:

What do you usually do with your computer? Are you a big FPS gamer? Mostly web browsing and e-mails?

If you are going CRT first make sure it is flat, then choose the biggest one you can afford (and make sure it fits comfortably on your desk). Of course if you can afford a 19" LCD....

if you want a flat, 19 inch crt, i'd go for the samsung 955df, it's like 200 bucks shipped from dell. mine's in oregon, on it's way up to seattle :)

there is nothing like an iiyama, i have the vision master pro 510, worth every penny i spent on it, its gorgeous and i spend on the average day 12-15 hours looking at it. IMO its color depth is way better then any sony monitor (both my roomates have them) and i run at 1600x1200 @ 100Hz which no sony monitor can do.

they are hard to find but worth looking for.

i have a sony g400 (19") at home. picture quality is outstanding, but no USB ports. you can find it online shipped for under $400. i don't find flat monitors compelling.

I didn't really either, until I went home for Thanksgiving. After using my Sony G400 for several months and then going home, I really noticed the bulge in the monitor there, which I never really noticed before. Trinitron tubes are definitely worth it, IMO.

<< Samsung 900NF :) >>

or 700NF for 17".

I have a Viewsonic PF775 which is very nice as well. The PF975 or 795 or something like that is the 19" version.

I definately agree with you on that:) I have the Vision Master Pro 450 myself. VERY good in all departments. I also have the Sony e200. I prefer its method of control though. Much quicker then this 3 button set up bit you get use to it.

Mines the 19" version.

I like my Samsung Sync Master 753DF If you look arround you can find them at Best Buy or Comp USA for $179 to $199 retail and their is still a $40 rebate to be had.

Just my $.02

Good luck.

And Happy Holidays!

My top two things when looking at buying a monitor

1. Dot pitch (my 19" is at .22)
2. High resolution refresh rates.

With my 19", I knew I wanted to run at 1600x1200 @85hz -- anything less would drive me crazy. At 1024x768, the monitor does 120hz, so my games never have a problem with tearing. My next monitor will do 1600x1200 @ 100hz and 1024x768 at 150hz.

Another vote for the Samsung SyncMaster 753DF which has an incredible bang for your buck ratio. Got mine for $89 after rebate with FREE SHIPPING from Dell.com a few months ago. Although I already have a beautiful Dell P991 Trinitron which is my alltime favorite monitor, a 753DF for $89 is an incredible deal and I wish I had ordered 2-3!
