ok so im working on building a hardcore hi-def Gaming rig

Original setup:
Mobo: AMD 580X Crossfire chipset
Proc: athlon 64 x2 6400 3.2ghz dualcore
Ram: 8ghz ddr2 800 dual channel
Video: 2 - radeon hd 3870 setup in crossfire mode
HD: 2 - Raptor x radeon hd 3870 10k rpm RAID 0
PSU: OCZ GameXStream OCZ700GXSSLI ATX12V 700W Power Supply
Monitor: Hi-Def LCD flat pannel of some type.
Windows vista ultimate 64mbit

After some opinions heres what i have so far:
Proc: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0Ghz
PSU: CORSAIR CMPSU-620HX ATX12V v2.2 and EPS12V 2.91 620W Power Supply 100

My goal is to overclock the e8400 to at least 4.0Ghz

What Mobo is Best for this.. preferably with the following
Crossfire / SLI
Raid 0
At least 4ghz of Nice ram
Vista compatible (direct x10)

I want a hardcore gaming rig targeted at Age of Conan:Hyborean adventures.

Relatively new to Building comps. Never overclocked. Never used Raid0

Any Setup advice would be great. I'm still tied between SLI or Crossfire.

Budget?

Also whats up with everyone trying to hit 4ghz on the E8400. Get a uber board if you dont want to be limited by anything. Also get a Tier 1 PSU which can pound more stable power then the corsair PSU.

Get Crucial Ballastix or Tracers for RAM.

The Board i recomend is the DFI LP LT X38-T2R but that board alone costs almost 300 dollars.

My question is: does RAID 0 make for faster/shorter load up times? I was hearing put the OS on one drive, and games on the other instead...

RAID0 = twice the write and read speed of a single drive (minus up to 5% on both due to overhead)
If either drive fails all is lost
RAID1 = same write but twice the read speed. (minus up to 5% on both due to overhead)
If a drive fails nothing is lost
RAID5 = the suck, its slow as hell unless you have an EXPENSIVE controller (costs more then the drives) and is actually extremely UNreliable as far as data backup.

Is there a section here @ AT to discuss RAID setup/arrays to get further help without hijacking this thread?

I have yet to really see anyone unable to hit 4GHz with the e8400, I got mine running at 4GHz with very little effort, I think it's pretty much a given if you want it.

Amazing chip, I run it on a Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R, any of the gigabyte P35 boards are awesome if you buy one.

But now you really tempted me to get one to hack the ihs off it and see if i can get a suicide 5ghz run on that with water.
