I'm thinking of upgrading my memory from 128 MB PC133 to 256 MB PC 133. What is the best kind of RAM I should get with my system? I have an ABIT K7T and an AMD TB 800 @ 950. Any suggestions? I wonder if that will make a difference for overclocking??

Thanks.

I have the exact same setup- KT7 (RAID) with T-bird 800 @950. I recently upgraded my ram from some older PC100 CAS2 to the Kingmax PC150 RAM. This stuff works GREAT on this system. I am currently running the ram at 164MHz CAS2! Rock Stable! Saundra FPU benchmark is over 620 MBPS! Highly recommended, and a bunch cheaper than the Mushkin or Curcial good stuff. (Recently it was $105 for 128MB stick at Mwave.com) GOOD LUCK!

Thanks for the advice. Just another quick question though, what is the difference between CAS 2 and CAS 3 RAM? Which one is faster? And also, what is your multiplier and FSB settings for your TB 800 @ 950.. It seems that I can't get more than 110 FSB... Do you think that upgrading the RAM will help? Thanks..:D

CAS2 is faster.

As for your FSB settings, since you are using PC133 RAM, a 110FSB would translate to a memory clock of 146.7MHz. This is probably pushing it for most memory, especially if you are running it CAS2.

Paulip88-

Can you explain that to me. I'm running a couple systems oc'd to 133FSB (P3600@800 & P3700@933 both on P3V4X's). Both have 256mb of only PC100 RAM. Sandra says my memory bus is 100mhz on both. How does that work?

I would get Mushkin memory. I have a pair of Mushkin High Perf. Rev2 PC133 SDRAM in my box and they run very stable. You could even read what anandtech has to say about this memory its somewhere on their website.

Your MOBO is prolly reading the memory bus speed off of the DIMMs themselves...also if you were trying to OC your PC100 to 133 it almost definitely wouldn't work anyway...get some shweet crucial memory or something, cas2 & 133mhz-it'll definitely boost your performance.
