I was at the doctors today, and she perscribed zoloft. So I went to the pharmacy and a little under a half hour after taking one, I started to get a really dry mouth and my stomach hurt. Is that normal? What have your experiences been with zoloft if thats what you have taken? What are some other medications that people here take? And have they worked well for you?

For the first few days these side effects occur. Other common ones are headaches, dizzyness, nausea, drowsiness during the day and insomnia at night  Also you may have difficulty 'performing'. Good luck, they should subside in time. :)

I've been on Zoloft for about a year. As for the stomach craps, I believe that is normal. But if the cramps don't got away after a few days, you should call your psychiatrist.

yea, for the first few weeks actually, i would get some major cramps almost immediately after eating and then had to hightail it to the bathroom. they do subside, although i have found that alot of the performance problems do continue for a lil longer.....not the actual performance for me though, just the finale:(

Whats the average dosage for zoloft? Cause mine are 50 mg I think, and do all the pills look the same or do some look different?

Dry mouth is very common with that class of drugs. If you eat before you take it that may help as well. You may also want to take it at a different time of day as well. Don't necessarily give up just yet as I have seen this drug work wonders for some people; give it a chance.
As for the "performance" issue, that side effect is also very common. So don't freak if that happens to you. But there is a bright side as well. If you also take Viagra about a half hour before the "event", you will find out that you have turned in to the man of steel. The recovery time is about a minute and you can go ALL night long; an awesome way to impress the ladies.

Apologies to any mods that feel that my post is not appropriate for the under 18 crowd. :D

I was always surprised to find how many young people are medicated.

I was on high-blood pressure medicine (atenolol) for a month or so but the side-effects were too much (fatigue, complete passivity). I think I am averse to drugs because I rarely take them short of the occasional tylenol and antihistimine.

I used to take depakote for about 5 years. That messes with you body. It is responsible for liver damage and reacts with everything

no drinking, no pot, about 100 lbs,:|

but now I have been off it for about 3 weeks and I should be getting the results within a few days of an EEG which will tell me whether I can stay off the medicine.:)

I am so hopeful

This means much boozing and smoking up this weekend:D

If anyone is wondering what the hell my statement above meant, it is simply a Mike Tyson quote from a press conference.

Yes, Mike Tyson is taking Zoloft to keep him from killing us.

I would never take one of those damn devil pills!! Doctors put the spirits of evil demons within those capsules. They corrupt your body and mind to the point where you can do nothing but serve satan himself!!! Everyone STOP taking your medication now!!!!
