I have used WMP for everything since 7.1. I hated that I'd make a list and then I'd double click on a file and WinAmp would overwrite the list. Anyway, WMP9 is great on Windows XP but I notice that the full screen scroll bars do not work on Win2000, wish they'd fix that but I have a feeling it is not coming since it has been a problem for 4 months. Anyway, I only have one copy of XP Pro so I just stick with 7.1 on the 2000 machines.

my problem with iTunes is that it is a resource hog. Almost 40% CPU utilization.

What's your CPU speed? If iTunes is just playing music(no visualization or anything) and hidden, it should only be 150mhz or so of CPU time(which is average for most MP3 players).

867mhz.
Odd, I'm on a dual 800 listening to DigitallyImported, and I'm not breaking 10%. Try deleting your iTunes prefs(com.apple.iTunes.plist, back them up first!), then when iTunes comes back up, go to preferences, and turn off all the effects. Now, open up the terminal, type "top -u", start running a 128Kbit MP3 in iTunes, and then hide iTunes. You should be staying under 20% CPU usage at this point.

Ya I realized that a poll would have been nice when it was too late. I didn't expect this many replies though, i'm done with the links. :)
