What measures do we have against brainwashing?

is brainwashing illegal? what defines brainwashing, as opposed to just religious indoctrination? just thinking back to patty hearst and whatnot...

j/k. 😀 Don't know if it's illegal or not, but I'd say brainwashing is implanting "statements" into one's subconscious mind.

<< start by turning off your TV. >>

bah, my tv would never do such a thing....

now excuse me i need to get a bowflex...

From the definite lack of individual reasoning displayed in this forum, apparently there aren't any measures to prevent it. 🙁

Turning off your TV is not the answer. Developing your own opinions about what is shown is what is important. Don't just accept the dominant opinion as being correct. Think about it yourself and make your own decision.

Actually, you can only be "brainwashed" as much as you are unconscious. And to erase this brainwashing, all you have to do is bring up the unconscious memories into conscious ones...wanna try?

<< i was actually talking about more extreme forms of brainwashing, like cults and stuff. >>

It still boils down to the willingness to think for yourself and to not be afraid to not be a part of the group just to avoid persecution.

clearly, but i'm wondering if there are any laws to protect people against this. obviously emotionally stronger people are fine, i'm just concerned about those less fortunate 😉

<< This should be your first line of defence here🙂 >>

i've taken the hundreds of AOL cd-roms i've received &
made a hat and long coat out of them, and had enough left over
to line my computer room. this technique bounces the thought control rays back
at the people transmitting, hah, hah.

Not that I'm aware of, unless the person was defauded in some way, or is not of legal age. Otherwise they made their decisions of their own free will, no matter how bad the decisions were.
