What marks go on your college transcript if you add/drop a major?

For example, let's say I add Classical studies as a second-major this week; I find out in a month and a half that I got accepted into the Business school's accounting program, so I decide to drop the Classical Studies and add the Business degree; will there be any sort of adverse mark on my record?

Cheers!

I would think the answer to this question would vary from school to school.

I'd be surprised if it said anything besides "Changed Majors from Classical Studies to Business" and a date.

Ummmm.....I think those guys are messing with you. A "W" shows up when you withdraw from a class past the date to withdraw without a "W" (I know, duh....)

Anyway, I changed majors from chem to CS and then added mathematics as a second major. Nothing shows on my transcripts. And even if it did, a lot of people change their majors in college, and I don't think it would hurt you at all.

Should be nothing. At my school, the transcript just says the name of the major you had when the semester began. Nothing more.

Dunno. When I declared my intention to take a minor in women's studies, the dept. head gave me an internal control sheet to track my classes but told me to hold off on formally declaring the minor until I already had all the classes. That way if I decided later on not to bother with it, they didn't have anything on me.

So that's what I did. Maybe it's different for a 2nd major?

No, why would changing your major have any adverse effects? Not having a major, that's a different story :)

Heck if I know, I already have a BS in Economics, I'm just figuring out something to do with my fourth year.

You get a big fat W :p

Thats only when you drop classes... not change majors. I don't think theres even any indication that you switched majors.

I've changed majors from a special studies (like a combined major) to bio, dropped my enviro sci minor, changed my history major to a minor, and none of it shows up on my transcript.

The only real problem is that I already applied to graduate (I thought I'd be leaving back in November!), so I need to find a good reason to petition to get the graduation request delayed by a year.

I would assume the only thing that would be printed on your transcript is if you withdrew from any courses.

The "major" part of a transcript is variable, and they need not log all yuor major changes. Why would it hurt, anyway? Unless you did poorly in some courses that could somehow indicate a reason you dropped a major (even if it did show on the transcript), I don't see why they'd hold it against you.

For instance, I dropped a major after two years (I had a 4.0 in it) because I was bored out of my mind in it and didn't want to take anymore courses.

Nothing went on my record (that I ever saw) to indicate that I changed my major.
