When I was younger I had friends, but they all seemed to fall by the wayside. A lot of the older folks I used to know and talk to have passed away. I need to make some real life connections. Itis hard to do living where I live. There really isn't anyone around here that is my own age. Perhaps I might find some people to hang out with in the city? Just I don't know anyone in the city that I can call on to introduce me to folks. Plus I work weird shifts and that throws a wrench in things.

Just wake up one day and decide you're going to do it. Then go for a walk and find a way to make it happen.

You can certainly find happiness without much money, but money does help a lot and it gives you a lot more options and freedom.

But it's not the most important thing: if you were in poor health and spent all your time in pain and were physically unable to do most normal activities, I don't think any amount of money would make you as happy as a strong, healthy, good-looking, but poor person could be.

I know exactly how you feel. I don't have any family where I am. It's not easy sometimes. All my family, cept one brother, all are in Michigan. I reside in Dallas, I do like it here. It's tough. I have gotten heavily involved on some gaming boards. I know more people on line, than I do in real life, sounds bad doesn't it. Not really. I have met quite a few of them. Some of those friends are very close to me, 2 as a matter of fact. I call them my dearest friends. They have been a life line for me at times. Major changes coming my way, and to have these guys guiding me, someone I can talk to, figure out life, that is a big help to me.

I do believe, your mind gets in a rut, you start thinking negative, it is easy to do. I have my down days, many of them, I am a fighter, I have to be. I won't let it get to me, I have many things going for me, I want more, I need more. We all deserve to be happy, we have to find that within ourselves, no one person can make us happy, cept ourselves.
If people can help along the way, go find them. I did.

I would keep asking myself, what do I want. Write it down, very theraputic, it does help. Even if I didn't like the answers, I knew I had work to do. The need to get beyond lifes trials and tribulations, I want more, I want it all. I just want to be happy.

You have to stop and think, what DOES make you happy. Take it from there, gaming? Music? Reading? Art? Learn something new. Is there something you have always wanted to do? But never found the time?

Keep looking, keep asking, you'll find the answers. :)

To be honest Trygrve I am in poor health. I have back problems and I also have an anxiety disorder that has hindered me in the past. I have been looking for a job for the past few months and can't get a good one because I can't do the physical labor that is required. I have taken a job about 2 weeks ago, but it doesn't pay very much and the people I work for aren't very supportive with their training. I have had worse jobs though so I am lucky. I do wish I had better health. I think part of the problem is I am aproaching 40 years old and am finding it hard to get enjoyment out of life. I miss being around people who are in their 20s.

Thanks BrokenArts. I do need to get out of a rut with my thinking. I also need to figure out what I want out of life that is within my grasp. I know I want to work in a different place with a differrent atmosphere. i would like to work at a college or university or something like that. I used to work at a community college and loved it. I kind of made some mistakes while I was there and ended up quiting. I have a bunch of applications in at another university and hopefully I will here something from them. I miss being around young people. I also want to finish my degree. I only need like 5 classes. Then perhaps I would have more options as to where I can work. Money is a problem for me right now. I need to find a solution to it before I can do anything else really. Maybe one of the places I put applications in will give me a call in the next few weeks.

Thanks for all the ideas guys. And please if you want to post go ahead I can use all the help I can get.

Don't wait for the Uni. to call you, *YOU* call them. Put in other app's, depending on the size of the town you live in. There are other colleges to apply to. Don't give up.

Any chance for financial aid? You need 5 classes, you are so close. Try one class, don't think you have to dive right in, and do them all at once. Try one class, it would get you out of the house, around people again. If you can't do it this semester, save up some money, (I know hard to do, it can be done) for one class, the next semester.

Talk to a counselor maybe? It doesn't hurt to ask, it doesn't hurt to talk. Using anything, and everything you can possibly think of at your disposal, use it. Do it. :)

Yeah I need to save some money because the place I am taking classes is about 40 miles away and it gets expensive traveling back and forth. Plus I don't make very much money where I am now. Thanks for the advice.

Whether its a party, a bar, a bong session, or just a chill relaxing night, as long as my friends and I are having a great time I'm happy. I'd rather be a poor man with the friends i have now than a rich man with no one.

how abt a rich man with friends

and a bong :)

Haha, no doubt that is my plan in life. But I'm saying should my finances fall thru then im glad i have my friends to get my back.

I will truly be happy if i make a lot of money and have many people to share it with.
