What makes you decide to rate somebody on AT?

Personally I give people either a 1 or a 10. If something somebody says makes me think the person, as a whole, is a jack of all asses I give them a 1 (not that I disagree with it necessarily but rather I think they're a butt head). If somebody pleases me I give them a 10. I'd say that I give out 1's maybe 1/3 of the time and give out 10s at least 2/3 of the time so I'd say I'm not a "spiteful" voter.
 
If somebody really makes me smile I'll give em a 10 if they've got their ratings turned on 🙂
 
if they get accidental messages about an orgy, I normaly give them a 1 :|

but to answer the question, if someone is being an ass, they get a 1, if i agree with what they say, I give them a 10.
 
if they are eakers approved they get a 10
if they are eakers not approved they get a 1

not their threads mind you but them as people, many things are taken into account into this decision.
10s usually one or more of the following: really nice and sweet, awesome when it comes to helping out with technical stuff, good advice givers, really funny etc

1s: jackasses

I find the rating system quite interesting 🙂. I usually do the same, 10 if the person is humorous or helpful/insightful and a 1 if the person is a annoying (where's that link LordMaul made) or a jerk.
 
I generaly dont vote because the votes are binding, everyone can be a complete jackass sometimes and the next time the complete opposite.
 
I give tens when people act calmly and rationally when presenting a differing viewpoint from another person in a thread, who listen and present points, no matter what the viewpoint. Ones when people act like jerks, flame, and just general are disruptive and rude. The ratings for me are about attitude, not personal beliefs. I don't rate anybody anything in between, people who I rate either get a one for being outstandingly rude or a ten for being outstandingly balanced.

I hardly ever rate someone, but when I do it's usually because they've either helped me fix some sort of computer problem or, like baffled2 said, they made me smile and/or laugh. In that case, they get a 1 because they're #1 in my book 😀😛 Or they really get a 10. If I give someone a 1 it's because they're being a jackass. It's not likely that they actually care how I rate them or that I think they're a jackass, but it's the principle of the thing.....or something

I'm basically the same way. Now if that person has a great attitude but thinks all cats should have their legs pulled off and tortured and he/she honestly believes it I'll give them a 1 but that's another issue entirely.
 
The only time I rate people is when they bitch about the ratings. I give them 1 (U.S. universal code for "you're a tool"). I don't give anybody anything else.

I'd say the main thing is whether they are hot or not 😉
 
My rating is about 5 or so, i guess i piss off some people , i generally try and look on the positive ends of things though. I never have rated anyone though, because most of the times they don't have their ratings on.....

For AT a rating of 5 is pretty good...
