What makes the google search engine so special?

Its small, and clutter free. They have gmail, and their maps kick ass.

It's quick, the interface is simple, and it gives good results. Plus all the extras like Google Maps, Froogle, GIS, Gmail, etc. are great.

I also like how the ads are unobtrusive (I do occasionally click on them).

The search results are ads. Sites will pay to be at the top of the list for certain keyword searches. Also, there are ads on the side as well. But, it is still the best. Google is the best because of the different types of searches (i.e. image, news, etc.) Google used to produce the most and most relecant search results, but nowadays several others are gaining on them.
