What makes ram different?

I know some ram is built to higher tolerances, thus the range of speeds, but what about compatibility? Why the rash of incompatible ram again after a while? Ram made by reputable manufacturers such as Crucial, Kingston and TwinMos is failing to run in motherboards made by reputable manufacturers such as Abit, Asus and Epox. Since the interfaces are identical and the chip configuration is the same, what are the underlying differences in ram that make them incompatible?

I'm referring more to the fact that say, a certain batch of Crucial PC3200 might have trouble running on an NF7-S or a P4PE, but works fine on an 8RDA+.

the memory controller is what makes them sometimes not work. instability is from improper development of the board for the memory controller. incompatiblity (ram chip density) has to do with older memory controllers.

increase performance in your system overall and if you buy cheap generic most of the times they become dull and start crashing in games or when you buy em brand new they will probably not work as fast as brand name rams most rams have different speeds which has different performance and more the rams you have the less lagg or choppyness you'll get while having 1game,4-5 messengers,10 internet explorers windows.
