JEDI, Maglite doesn't make a 1AA light. I achieved a 1AA light by sending away a 2AA Minimag to a machinist, and had him chop it to 1AA length and rethread it. For what that costs, you're better off buying a competitor's 1AA light; the Fenix L1T is currently the best one I know of below $50.

While I haven't used a 2AA Minimag LED light, I hear it's not a slouch either--it's just not as good as the 3AA one.

woah.. the L1S has a voltage boost circuit, while the L2S has constant current regulation?!

From the link, the L1S doesnt seem to maintain constant light output as the batteries weaken. it looks like a straight line depletion curve, like you see in a incandesant flashlight.
