What makes a watch so expensive?

yea, I can understand the first 3, but the ones they were discussing in that other thread didn't really seem to offer anything other than a name, they looked about the same as your $50-$100 watch, there has to be something I'm missing.

it's based on how many functions a watch has.

some watches have lunar cycles, digital time, calendars (mm/dd/yyyy), etc etc.

all those little extras require more intricate parts, which add to the cost.

oh, and also brand names.

In this case it's pretty much the name. I suppose the sapphire crystal adds to some of the cost though.

Stupid people because IMO a $5 watch tells the same time a $10K one does. Sure, no shoving in the faces of others and making them feeling small and worthless when you show them the $5 watch though, but Im not one to have to make others feel small and worthless compared to me. :p
