what makes a systems ram keep counting itself over and over on the post boot-up?
My friends computer runs fine but when he first boots up the memory keeps running the memory check until he hits the "escape" key and then it goes into Windows and runs fine....

When you say "it keeps counting"...how long do you wait before assuming it won't stop? My Abit KT7R will count the memory over about 10-15 times, then it stops and continues with the boot process. It takes it about 30 seconds to do that. Enabling Quick Boot in the bios will make it not run the memory test.
