What mainboard? (Tbird AXIA, plan to oclock, IDE raid)

What mainboard should I be looking at for overclocking an AXIA - I want the highest BUS speeds. Going to build a new computer.

I seem to be stuck between the KT7A-Raid and the IWill (but which Iwill)

Options I would like:

-software overclocking settings
-onboard IDE Raid controller
-DDR Ram (I haven't seen any good DDR overclocking boards)

any mainboards that fit that?

I personally would not bother with DDR right now, the platform still needs some maturing. I am using the Iwill KK266-R and it replaced my KT7A-R. I am now running with a 167 FSB, the best my KT7A would do is 145. Check my system link for details...

One other thing, the Iwill uses the AMI RAID controller which is a very nice controller. It is much nicer than the Highpoint on my Abit was...

Insane why do you run your ram at cas3???
brxndxn get the Iwill kk266 it is a great board you will love it.

What problems did you have with the Highpoint, Insane3D? Personally I really like it, both in Win98 and Win2k. Excellent performance for such a small additional fee. 🙂

Renob: note that he runs it at 167 MHz. 🙂 🙂

I should have been clearer. I have, up until I got this Iwill, used Abit mainboards almost exclusively. I have never had any problems with my Highpoint controllers on any of the boards I had. I just meant to say the AMI RAID controller has a couple of extra features that are really nice, and it just seems like it is a higher quality RAID controller. Both of them perform well though. 🙂

Like BlueScreen VW said, I am running a FSB of 167. This Crucial is really nice stuff. I have all the memory timings in the BIOS to the fastest settings, but running @ CAS3. The Crucial will do up to 154 or so @ CAS2, but my scores are better @ 167 CAS3 than @ 154 @ CAS2.

Sandra Memory Bench:

Int ALU: 673 MB/s

Float FPU: 754 MB/s

brxndxn, two months ago I would have said the Abit KT7A-Raid.
but now it seems the Iwill KK-266R is the flavor of the month.
but next month who knows 🙂

i dont know why everyone uses crucial, i have some mosel vitalic(256) that does 166 cas2 4way no prob, it'll go even higher, but i have crappy pci and agp cards(btw, on iwill)

I am glad you have some Mosel that does well, but I had three sticks of Mushkin Rev2 Mosel that would not go over 148 @ cas2 on the Iwill, that's why I got the Crucial. Post some memory benches, you must have some nice scores @ 166.
