Not a brag thread; the "luxuries" I can think of are all things I didn't obtain on my own so there really aren't any bragging rights.

For me...

Dom Perignon
Opinion: eh, it was ok. I've had better champagne cheaper and I'm not that into champagne. Would not buy.
Why did I have it: gift from a corporate vendor. I shared it with the team that worked on the project.

$500 hotel room (Wynn Las Vegas)
Opinion: Very nice but all in all, it's a hotel room and you're not really there much. Is it seriously worth the cash? The best part of the $$$ room was the nice big and fancy bathroom. Service sucked but that's probably because it was only two weeks after opening.
Why did I have it: vendor conference (different vendor). They supplied service to the Wynn and got a discount right after the place opened.

Living in the middle of wine country with this view.
Opinion: I would kill to live back there again.
Why did I have it: parents were doing pretty well during the .com boom so I grew up there. .com bust and the place got sold and we had to move away from the area. 🙁

Will see if I can think of any others.

Vacation in Maui in a great house with a great view
Opinion: Awesome. Staying in a house makes you feel much more at home than staying in a hotel. We didn't have to pay to use the house, because we know the owner, but if I had to pay I'd probably stay in a condo instead of a hotel.

Dom P- my cousin had it all for us when he became a doctor. it was decent, but i don't think it justifies the $100 price tag. i'll take a $14 bottle of gloria ferrer!

I stayed at the Okura in tokyo. it was $500 a night and was very very nice, but felt that it wasn't necessary.. my work paid for everything though. i felt like everyone in there was yakuza.

and that view you have is gorgeous. i stayed in hawaii for a month with my brother. i'm dying to go back, and hopefully eventually try to find a job there.

i've had caviar before- it's decent but not worht the price.
i've had truffle'd steak and some other dishes. very very tasty. i saw an ounce of truffle at a wegmans that was locked behind a glass case, going for something ridiculous like $500 a lb (or oz i forget) :Q

Solution: Get a little truffle oil, even the olive oil with infused truffle oil. All you need are a few drops and you get the heady/earthy goodness of truffles. We use it on pasta and some salads at home.
 
I'm not really sure what would constitute luxuries. As far as what most people might consider luxuries, I'd say my cars and my watches. I've put down good money on bottles of wine like a 1995 DRC which was delicious, but other than that most of my luxuries revolve around food and travel. I value good food/drink above almost all other luxuries, and I'm willing to spend good money and travel great distances to find something exceptional.

I don't really have much interest in perceived luxuries. Most of the time, they're just not as good as the stereotype would imply.
 
Restaraunt was out of Dom P - they upgraded the 3 of us to a bottle of Tattinger. Bar price was $225 for that bottle and it was damn tasty!

Work picked up the tab.


 
According to 'Scent of a Woman':

- Haven't eaten in a place with $30 burgers.
- Haven't done a 'top of the line' hooker.
- Haven't driven a lambo.

Oh, and haven't done blow off a high priced hooker, so ya, I'm getting nowhere.
 
Chivas Regal Royal Salute, 21yr old scotch. It was $160 a bottle, and worth it imo. It isn't $130 better than the 12yr, but it was worth it for the experience, and the rarity.

The Macallan 25yr old scotch. $25 a glass at the local brew pub. Again, worth it for the experience, but I don't like it as well as it's younger siblings. $25 a glass is better than $175 a bottle to try it out.

Samuel Adams Utopia, the worlds strongest beer at 25% alcohol, and $140 a bottle if I remember right. Well worth the price, for an experience few will have. Delicious, and it would be a regular buy if it were cheaper.
 
I'm sure I've experienced some kind of stereotypical luxury, but nothing comes to mind. I consider it a luxury that I've lived a good life and never wanted for anything I truly needed or most of the stuff I desired. True luxury would probably be wasted on me anyway.
 
$80,000+ stereo system - a dealer demo. Typical McIntosh rubbish.
$14k stereo system (Vienna Acoustics, IIRC): Worth it. Hopefully my DIY system will come close.
Third row seat to a Randy Newman concert: Free, though you wouldn't believe the circumstances for this one if I told you.
