I'd have to say that you got the response I was expecting when one says anything negative about Linux. I personally have no urge to learn that OS so I'm perfectly happy sticking with 2000 and XP for now. If the day ever comes where I want/need to learn Linux then I'm sure I'll get just as frustrated as you are now, but right now I'm enjoying the ease of use of what Microsoft has to offer. 🙂
