What Linux For a Linux Newbie?

Remember my old thread when I had that old 133? well I have a some what decent computer to try linux on now.
The computer that will be running it is a
PIII 800 MHZ
256MB Ram
3com Nic
HDD either a 40 0r 80 GB
DVD Rom drive
floppy drive

I have a DVD burner so I can burn Linux ISOs to a DVD

So what linux is the most newbie friendly? I don't care if I mess up Im just in it to learn thanks

Nice Linux box.

This gets asks what seems like daily, but there is no best distro to use and you'll get diferrent answers from everyone. I'd go to DistroWatch and check out the Top 10 or 15 of the past month, do a little reading on them, and pick a few Live CDs to try first.

That being said, here's a few I'd recommend that make the transition from Windows a little easier, IMHO (in no particular order):

Ubuntu
PCLinuxOS
Fedora
MEPIS
Xandros

I will add a question to this. Does anybody have any suggestions if I need wirelsss LAN drivers??? Which distro is better??? I have Ubuntu now and it doesn't seem very easy to set up. I can't get it setup at all right now.

The same software is available for all of them. What wireless chipset are you using?

Ubuntu detected my wireless card but I don't think it picked up my wired card.
