Mine has to be suse 7.1 This is by far the most user friendly, feature rich(7 full cd's) and stable distribution I have ever tried.

For a server where I had to use Linux, it would be Slackware 7.1. I haven't used SuSE 7.1 (damnit they won't put an ISO on their site and I don't have money to buy it) but SuSE 7.0 really impressed me as a great desktop replacement for Win2k.

Thanks konichiwa but that's the live eval version. SuSE puts out two versions...one that's a "real" installation and the live-eval which I think just runs off the CD (never tried it but I've been told to stay away). Can anybody clarify this for me?

servers= FreeBSD (not really linux, but close) because of effiecient resource handling and many other reasons,
desktop= Redhat, for ease of use, and "tweakable", its the one that has kind of grown on me. Plus it has a lot of apps available.

I use storm linux. It has the niceities of Debian (apt-get and the like, rock stable) with some nice little GUI stuff.

I started linux with Slackware so I have to say it is still one of my favorites. I was ecstatic the first time I set up Samba properly on Slackware 4.0. :)
