I would say Bono, but I'm heavily biased because I saw him in concert.

David Lee Roth, back in the day. The best there ever was. All the others are better singers, but not better showmen.

They used to say, all the men wanted to be him, all the women wanted to be with him.

If you took a poll of all the popular bands from then and now, Dave would win, hands down.

I went with Jagger. The dude is over 60 and he runs around like he's 20. My bro saw Ozzy in concert a few months ago, and said he came out with a knee brace on. He didn't move much, and his "headbanging" looked like he was giving the mic a bj.

The only other people who I can think of who rival Jagger in stage presence are perhaps Bono (still a clear cut second at best though), and Angus Young, but he's not a singer.

I'd say Bruce Springsteen would rate a place in your poll...

Diamond Dave gets my vote though.

Added Bono after two nominations..

I think "The Boss" might qualify, also.

Still thinkin of others..

Put Ozzy on mostly cause of his antics like biting the head off a bat...

Definitely Bruce Springsteen. I saw him in concert a looooong time ago, he put on the most engaging, energetic show I'd ever seen. That's just from the selection provided. I think Peter Gabriel (in the days of Genesis) had the best stage presence of all time though. -kd5-

Sorry -

Lead singer?
or
Rock Singer?

I saw some of the older ones you listed, and Elvis or James Brown would be my vote for 'Rock', but probably Mick Jagger for "Lead".

definately not the lead singer from The Strokes. I love the music but i've seen them perform live on some videos and on tv and i don't think their music would make a crowd hype like that.

Elvis and James Brown were added later in the poll..

Anyways, they're still Lead singers sorta since that had back-up bands.

The thing is, if you asked the singers on that list who saw him in his day, most would agree that DLR was the man. Of all those, only Elvis could hang with Dave.
