What KT400 board to buy?

I will, finally, be buying stuff for a new system. I intend on going with an AMD Athlon XP cpu (speed to be determined.) I would like to get a board that will have some future potential (think 333 FSB) to go with the latest Athlon XP CPUs (2400+ and up) I'm not going for one of the fastest CPU's yet, but I may when they are priced more in line with my budget.

I have been reading KT400 reviews all over the place and I am torn between the GA-7VAXP, the MSI KT-4 Ultra and the Asus. I would like to keep mobo cost around $120 or less.

Any ideas/thoughts/concerns??? Anyone with the GA-7VAXP (currently my favorite?)

GA-7VAXP looks nice... I personally would wait for the EpoX 8K9A+ comes out... I wanted an 8K5A3+ but now I am going to wait a bit longer.

I think most of them will support official 333FSB with bios update. Most of them have tons of features, too. I personally like the Asus board, but I wouldn't turn an Abit or MSI down...

The asus boards are the fastest, but I'm really happy with my msi kt4v, it's cheaper than some kt266a products and is loaded with everything you could want short of raid and firewire. I got it for $85 w/free shipping at newegg about a month ago, don't know what the cost on them is now, but it shouldn't have changed by much.

i just got the GA-7VAX (basically the GA-7VAXP without the firewire and raid card). I like it. No problems so far.

I just picked up an ASUS A7V8X. Has everything but the kitchen sink on it. Good overclocker and very stable too. Me likes it.;)

I can't seem to find the Epox KT400 anywhere. Neither newegg or googlegear have it. I will keep looking for the board and will add it to my feature comparison. I don't want to wait for the nForce 2. The last time I waited (back in the KT133A day) and I still haven't upgraded yet! It's now or never! (Can't seem to keep the money for a new comp when I have it if I decide to wait for the next great thing ;) )

Thanks for all the advice!

i've got an msi kt4 ultra board, my friend has the fisr version and we both love 'em.. rock solid, oc's well, easy to use bios, almost jumperless (two jumpers, one to clear cmos, other to configure onboard sound as 5.1 or 2.1)
never heard anything bad about epox, but i dont have any expereince with it

In regards to on-board sound with these motherboards, how does the Realtek chipset compare to the Cirrus Logic?? Thanks! ;)

Also, I know this is a discussion thread for KT400-based boards, but is anyone considering the purchase of an nForce 2 board? Or, would you rather stay with the trusty VIA chipsets until the nForce 2 boards prove themselves for a while?

OC systems tanks in their reseller ratings...run Forest run. I am waiting for the Epox, and Newegg should have it in a few days :) if I can figure out how I am going to mod my new case first. Too many choices.

I've got ASUS A7V8X and it's running like a champ. Been up more than 48 straight hours and still counting. :)

Newegg has the Epox 8K9A board which is a KT400 for $85. I am leaning that way since it will let me have all my multipliers unlocked on the new 2400XP I am getting. I am trying to find someone who has purchased this board, but what I have read has been all good..
