People asking me all sorts of strange questions for no apparent reason? ;)

Seriously:

Driving, especially in unfamiliar territory. I've had a couple of panic attacks while in the car. Not pretty. Got so bad a year or so ago that I pretty much refused to drive anywhere but work and school. Part of that was stress from other things too though, and the fact that I was driving a genuine POS. I have a better car now, and I'm out of school, so things are getting better. I feel better as a route becomes more familiar too.

The really odd part is that short trips bug me more than long ones - I had an easier time driving 600+ miles to Atlanta with my girlfriend than I did trying to find my aunt's house that was (or, should've been, I missed the street and was driving around for a while ) 20 minutes away.

Other than that, just the usual stuff. Spiders creep me out, though not as badly as some people. Sometimes I fear being alone, too - but not always.

bugs, and (gasp) the dark. I mean when it's so dark that you see nothing but black, as long as I know something exsists, i'm okay.

I'm also freaked out by water deeper than like 20 feet. Unless I'm scuba diving, I can't handle deep water at all.

funny thing is i love extreme sports. skydiving, rock climbing, scuba diving, ...hell if i can find something that is high risk activity (never done drugs though...o_O) i'd do it

I dunno, just kicks total ass when you do something most people wont.

Being in water where I cannot see the bottom - gives me the heebejeebies. That, and my fear of being alone for the rest of my life.

Snakes, spiders, and bugs I can handle - the unknown is what scares me.

Agreed about the water.

I think being alone, at night, out in the middle of a massive body of water (large sea, or ocean) would be pretty fvcking scary.

Have you seen Open Water? Talk about terrifying...

No, but I probably should. Yeah, that is what I am talking about though.

Wow, didn't realise so many people had a fear of water..so do I, which is pretty troublesome in Minnesota.

It's not that I can't go swimming/tubing..it's just that I don't enjoy it.

The thought of losing my family is about the only thing that scares me. I adopted a dog to protect them while I work nights out of this fear.

I'm often the same way. I have to know the exact route turn-by-turn to where I need to go. Familiar routes aren't a problem at all. But trying to go somewhere new, especially in very congested urban areas makes me want to freak out sometimes.

On an intellectual level, I'd say the thought of the United States becoming a right-wing religious theocracy, and the loss of individual liberties in favor of religious morality and corporate interest.

Well, for a while the thought of losing my parents scared me, but that has come to pass andf it really hurt me while it was happening. New things sometimes scare me, so for the past year or so I have been doing the same 'ol same 'ol all the time. I guess I am scared of getting hurt more than any other thing now days. But come to think of it the worst thing that can happen to me is I end up in a hospital for the rest of my life or I die. And that doesn't scare me to much. I think being hurt by someone elses violence bothers me a little. So perhaps fear of loss of control. Though I have lost control in some ways in my life so that doesn't bother me much anymore. I would say being alone, but I am alone and am doing ok so far. I get lonely from time to time, but I think serious relationsips can sometimes be overrated. I do like comming into contact with people and knowing people at a distance. I have had people in my life that has used my fears against me. Tried to minipulate me and so forth and so on. I think the biggest thing that concerns me is doing something that I know I will go to hell for, but I believe in grace, so that concerns me, but doesn't terrify me. Perhaps success scares me. I have had little of it in my life, but I think I am getting better that it doesn't scre me as much as it used to.

Perhaps I am scared of fear.
