I have recently upgraded from a p166 voodoo1 to a shiny new athlon 650 system. here are the specs.

AMD Athlon 650
Asus K7m
128 MB Mushkin PC133 MHZ RAM
Leadtek Geforce 2 GTS- AGP 1X SBA DISABLED SUPER BYPASS DISABLED
SB LIVE
QUANTUM FIREBALL 27.3 GB HARDDRIVE
Supermicro 760A case w/ 300 WATT PS

Now in Tribes when i benchmark it using the "Death be not proud" demo i get around 45 fps at 1280X1024 at 32 bit color with sound on and maxed out graphics. Should i be getting higher fps? I feel as if my system should be running faster. For intance, diablo II caches my harddrive all the time even though i installed the fat 1550 mb installation. So is my performance on par with your systems or have i screwed up some how????

I wouldn't know because I have a slow system. But 45fps does seem really low. But don't take my word for it because I am not an expert in the video department.

I don't know about tribes but I have a 650 PIII with 128Mb of ram diablo 2 hits my hard drive so hard sometimes you would think somebody was mowing the yard.

That game takes the prize for the ram hog game of the century!!

I haven't seen tribes. But 45 FPS at 1280x1024x32bit doesn't sound too bad. Unless the game has really unspectacular graphics.

45fps at that isn't terrible. Id be happy to be getting 50-55fps on that sys...but that isn't bad. A Voodoo5 (I hate 3dfx..but I must plug) would do wonders in tribes.
