Was wondering because sometimes my 8800GT will dip into the 20-30's in this game. Anyone else get this low?

My 8800 GTX doesn't really go below 80, and it's generally over 100. 1920x1200, AA, AF, etc... 20-30 is real low for an 8800 GT. Are you using updated drivers?

HardOCP did some TF2 benchmarks and their 8800gts 640 never went below 60 fps at 1600*1200 4xAA 16xAF. What resolution/settings are you running at?

1680 x 1050. Like i said. Sometimes in fire fights in dips into the 20's and 30's.

1280x1024, maxed out, 4xMSAA 16xAF - i don't have specific numbers, but it's *always* smooth.

2GB Ram, e4500, Lite-on 300 Watt PSU. Please don't say my PSU is the issue. I can run crysis all day long and any other game without issues.

Did you get this measurement from FRAPS? If you were just eye-balling it it may have been from connection lag. Also, check to see if your pci-e lane is running at x16.

I get 50 to 80, depending on the maps and number of players, with an average of 60. I play at 1280x960, 4xMSAA, 16xAF, everything at High (Very High textures). I might be wrong but I think TF2 is quite CPU dependent, or perhaps the whole Source engine is and not just TF2, but I'm not sure.

Oh ok. Im running mine at 1680 x 1050 with everything on High and 8X MSAA, 16xAF. I had it at 4x AA but i was told it as CPUdependent so i figured if i put it on 8x AA it will be more GPU at that point. I get 20-30 sometimes like in a very heavy fire fight outside.

I have an e4400 at 3.3ghz and an 8800gt at 700/1900 and I run the game at 1680/1050 with 16xaf and 16xQSAA and I run it at ~60 but sometimes it drops to 30ish

Might be time to upgrade.

ditto. All in all, it's still smooth and never skips. It just stays at a constant 40-50. I think my rig is CPU limited.... =( It stays at that FPS at 1280 1024 no matter how many/little effects/options I turn on.

You're not alone. I have an E6750, 2GB, and 8800GTS 640MB and TF2 also dips to 30ish in some heavy firefights as well as in some custom maps. I run at 1680x1050 with no AA and all high details. Most of the time it runs over 100fps, but just every now and then I get to the 30's in certain situations where 10 people are on the screen shooting at each others outside in the open.

I do have updated drivers, and I use Vista (I blame Vista for my own comfort).

Running 2560x1600 6xAA 16xHQaf Vsync On,
HDR OFF,
It def drops to 30 in firefights mostly cuz of vsync it would be at 48-50 otherwise, but on my monitor the tearing is too noticable cuz it's huge and blatantly obvious.

Im running 1024x768 on a P-M 750 (1.86GHz) 2GB RAM X700 and getting average 60fps. I get the same thing and its strange because usually in big firefights I average 40-60.. but out of the blue it will dip down to 20fps.

I'd dip into 60-70 FPS at times, running 8XCSAA 16AF, 1440x900. Usually I'm hitting 120+ FPS, averaging 100 in big fights. Everything turned up as high as I can. Thats with a C2Quad @ 3.5Ghz and 8800GT @ 710/1800/2000.

I just put together a E6600, Raptor 74gb, 4GB Ram and a 8800GT at 700/2000 and im running this game at 8xMSAA 8XAF with everything on high. In fire fights i still drop to the 30's in a 32man server when im in 2fort on the bridge with a bunch of people. Not sure whats the issue.
