What kind of work can I get with a PhD in Psychology?

I'll be getting my BS in engineering this upcoming school year and I'm thinking of either going straight to the work force and live out my life according to the Dilbert comics or go to law school to pursue patent law, or go for a PhD in psych. The last option is the most unfamiliar to me: so what is school like when for a PhD in psych or what are the kinds of jobs you can get?

For example, a marketing professor told me that companies and advertising agencies like to snatch up psychologists to study effectiveness of ads on consumers. That sounds exciting to me.

big difference between pat. law and psych 😛.

you may want to research psych jobs a little more then what your prof. told you.

Psychology's pretty broad - Industrial/Organizational, Counseling, Research....it really depends on what kind of psychology.

I'd say most psych PhDs teach, work in mental health, or do some sort of consulting.

This is in direct conflict with the first post rule.

The first post is always correct.

..the rehab racket is a good gig for shrinks. Endless supply of dopers that get caught in in rehab due to drug testing and probation.
