Whats the difference with all the models APC has besides the Volt-Amp ratings? You can see my main system in my sig.

Back-UPS: Stand-by (either on AC or on battery)
Back-UPS Pro: Line-Interactive (can boost or trim voltage if it gets a little high or low without using battery)
Smart-UPS: Line-Interactive + Pure sine wave (Not really necessary for computer loads)

I like the Back-UPS Pro series since it gives the best performance for the price. The weird thing is the Back-UPS Pro actually has better voltage regulation than the Smart-UPS. BTW, that only applies to the older Back-UPS Pro's (I don't know about the newer USB series).

What do you mean by "standby time"? The Back-UPS is a standby unit which is overall inferior. The Back-UPS Pro can do anything the Back-UPS can and more.

BTW, the pure sine wave output on the SmartUPS are only on the ones 700va and above.

That is correct. I never understood the reasoning behind that. That is pretty much the only advantage of the Smart-UPS over the Back-UPS Pro. I guess it has SNMP support.

Edit: I'm referring to the <700VA Smart-UPS.
