New balance makes great shoes...then you can get better excercise and save money.

Treadmill == donkeyball suckage

Just find a nice route to run (park, local HS/college track, etc.)

We have a ProForm treadmill from Sears. Its got electronic incline, upto 10mph, and it comes with some weights. Assembly and carrying it was a bitch otherwise it works fine. its been used a lot. We bought it < 200 last year and got extended 3 yr warrenty for about 50 bucks.

Mind you our unit was on sale. It retailed 500, we got it 200 + warrenty.

Well worth it.

I don't have one but I'd love to own a Life Fitness treadmill. Even the most entry level treadmill is roughly $3k. Their LCD treadmill is the top of the line and is almost $7k. When I'm rich like Bill Gates, I will buy that treadmill. Either that or I'll learn to run on the concrete and run outside lol.

All information helpful.

I had Diablo 2 at some time. And Dungeon Siege at another time...
Those were big treadmills 😀

Reebok RX5000. Older model, don't even think you can buy it anymore, but I enjoy it. It has all these neat features that I don't use though, like planned automatic trails. I just use the manual run function and a 3.0 incline.

It's funny how people try to buy things to make it "easier" to complete time oriented tasks. You work longer to make more money, but use up more time working. Then you spend your money on things to save more time... so you can work more.

Just go outside and run. No need for a treadmill. Treadmills suck.

Vision Fitness 9250

I bought it because it's built like a tank. I looked at some of the cheap peice of crap proform/nordic trac/ect you can buy at Sears and the like. Couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger on them.

Went to a *true* fitness store and found this. It weighs about 300 pounds, but it's solid steel. It doesn't bounce and flop around when I run on it. It doesn't rattle or squeek. It's built to last.

I run in my basement while watching TV. That means not only can I run at the same time every day regardless of the season or weather. I also complete 2 tasks at once, as I can watch a movie that I've been looking forward to at the same time. Treadmills are a one time purchase that last an extremely long time, money really isn't an issue. As long as you build one that isn't going to break in a week, there is very rarely a reason to ever get a new one.

To those who say just run outside, many people do both. For me, at least, the treadmill supplements outdoor running. Sometimes I don't feel like running outside when it's 90+ and humid (seems like everyday lately). Often I find it convenient and preferable to run at night. If it is also raining/snowing, running on the treadmill is much safer than running on public roads.

In answer to the OP's question, well, I'm lazy so I'll just quote a reply I made in a similar thread a couple of weeks ago:

How are you going to use it? Walking or running? Twenty minute sessions or training for a marathon?

What is your budget?

I picked up this one last summer for around $1700 from Omni Fitness:
Trimline T360

It holds up well to the pounding of my 215 lbs but I rarely run more than 2-3 miles and use it fairly infrequently (treadmills bore me and I'd rather run outside). My wife, on the other hand, uses it 5+ times a week, for an hour at a time. Overall, we're quite satisfied with it.

If you are doing serious training, I've heard good things about Landice. I have a coworker who runs marathons at a 3 hour pace and he just bought one. Not sure which model, though.
