ok.....do you guys mix and match tools, buy as you need and don't give a crap, or have a tool set?

i want to buy a nice functional tool set. i heard people using snap-on but how will the magnetic heads affect the internals?

also, some of these tool sets on amazon and whatnot have HUGE 10-15 mm sockets!!

any recommendations?

Craftsman :) Lifetime warranty. If you break one just bring it into a local Sears and they will replace it.

I have 1 multiple head (magnetic, 5 heads) screwdriver and a cheap ($5)
computer tool kit. I've had no problems with the magnetic driver and have
installed many MBs with it. I do try to keep it away from the CPU and memory
though................

Unless you are a mechanic you have no need to go anywhere near snap-on or mac or any of those guys. You can get a cheap little set of "computer" tools from any place like Sears, Radio Shack, Digi-Key etc. etc. And btw, no, I don't bother with a "tool set", just have what I need.

how about my philip's head and needle nose (for those hard to reach jumpers, which is almost not a concern anymore)

u may want one of those "micro-philip" head drivers for some things (i.e., if u like taking off stock sinks on gpus, removing face plates on drives, etc. etc.)

other than that....there really is no use for other tools as far as i can tell

I think you have to ask yourself "what am i going to use these tools for?"

If you are going to just use them for PC repair/MOD, buy each tool as you need it. If you are planning on working on your car or doing anything mechanical around the house/work, get a descent craftsman toolset. They carry the liftime warrenty and are pretty nice. I have a good size craftsman set so now i just add tools to it as I find I need them. If you are doing case MODS, look into some power tools like a descent drill and a Dremel. I also have hole saws and knock-out punches I use to mod cases.

Haha, is it wrong if all I use is a Phillips screwdriver about the length of a pencil?

I'll reiterate whoever said that if your just getting stuff to tinker with the comp, just get what you need. If your going to work on the car/house/ATV or anything else mechanical get a decent set. I've used Craftsman but absolutely hate their ratchets, they fall apart and break so very easily. Even though they have a life time warranty I still think they're junk. The best, price/performance wise has got to be Popular Mechanic brand at Wal-mart. Better quality than Craftsman in my book, and cheaper to boot! Lifetime warranty too.
