If I'm really bummed out I find simply petting my cats seems to help calm me down tremendously for some reason.

Usually I put on some energic or even aggressive music and go for a run, or I try to call some friends to drink and laugh with or play magic: the gathering.

Probably not for everybody...but I go shooting. (Not *on a shooting*...just shooting.)

It's surprisingly cathartic.

Clean my house.

It is refreshing to know it is done and makes you feel a lot better.

Exercise. Clears the mind and flushes out the emotion holes.

Right now I feel really really depressed because I am waiting for my university results, and if I fail 1 module I will have to redo another year, which means I need to pay another £9000,00. If I fail my mom will be VERY VERY upset and I DON'T want that to happen :( I honestly don't know if I pass or not. My results should come this week or next. Seriously I feel like shit and I feel like I'm diagnose with depression :(

Anyway, back to the question. What kind of things you do when you're depressed/sad?
I know some people watch funny videos/movies etc but that's just one thing to do.

What do you do?
I feel ya. Had my car's tranny go out last week, and I've been tied for cash. Been pretty stressful trying to figure out what to do, no credit for loans and all. :\

Best thing I find to help maintain composure is something along the lines of a video game, generally something I associate with a good memory. Clear my mind some, so I can find it easier to form my plan and remain flexible.

Also, avoid caffeine like the plague. That stuff is likely to amplify nervousness, and can be quite detrimental.

Go borrow someone's kids for a day. Take them to the zoo, skating, even just a walk through a park or roll around in the sand/grass for hours on end.

Erases everything for me.

Go be six years old again and forget about all the trivial bullshit in life.

What a beautiful picture you present for us. You must really love kids. You will be a good father in the future.

No, it is not just you. I think some people are always happy. People who get depressed a lot are not those people.

I can say this, most people who are fat will tell you that food is their release from depression (and most are depressed a lot).

Add to this, the smarter you are, the more likely you are to be depressed because you might think about things more often that you can't control, such as outside influences on your life.

Whereas, the stupider you are, the less likely you are to think about anything at all, including being depressed, lol.

getting some sun might be a good idea.
Go to the zoo if you have one, or do some exercise.
Cleaning or tidying up the house is a good idea too since you accomplish something.

When I was waiting to see if I got into grad school, I prepared for the worst. I thought out clearly what I was going to do if I got denied and came to peace with that path. But I ended up getting into my dream grad program. :)

Maybe you can think of the 9000 quid as an expensive lesson to teach you to get your ass into gear so you won't be so fucking stupid to make that mistake again, and that lesson might just make you into a much better person overall.
