What kind of surge suppression should I use on my 52" LCD?

I have an Aquos Sharp 52" and I was looking for suggestions for what to use? Is battery backup an option or is it too big?

Decent surge protector will be fine.

Something that is getting popular is whole house surge protection. Not expensive at all (ranges from $70-couple hundred dollars for the unit) and relatively simple wiring (depending on how experienced you are). It's a moderate DIY project.

I run my 37 inch Toshiba LCD off of an 800va APC which I got uber-cheap & its more power then it needs.

On these APC units when the power clips, does your LCD turn off or notice the disruption in any way?

I use a 600va UPS on my 42" Aquos.

I don't lose TV or notice any disruption when the power clips

Get a Monster Power Center from Best Buy, and get it installed by Geek Squad.

like this one

$34.99 + $12.14 shipping

Not a bad price either. I have a 360, Wii, and HD-DVD that I'd like to have plugged in as well. None of these run constantly, but I'd like to be able to plug them in for protection. Would the Rosewill support those as well?

the $299.99 one or the $399.99 one ?

Whichever offers a product replacement extended warranty plan.

Nope ... never been any kind of problem at all, even when I had a brief complete power failure a few weeks ago.

The picture & sound went off because the cable box isn't connected to the UPS but there was no loud pop from the speakers & the LCD itself stayed on.

Actually, the best combination is Monster power center with a Bose system. They are optimized for each other.

But you have to use the Bose® PowerBoost+® Cable to connect them together so the Acousticable® system can properly control the Waveglide® technology.

My guess would be:

Kuro 300watts
Playstation 3 ~200watts
samsung reciever 250watts, which bursts of higher wattage depending on what you're watching
Directv tuner ~50watts

This is probably pretty close to reality. I have a 50" Kuro and DirecTV HD DVR connected to a 450W UPS, and it stays at 4 out of 5 bars of load when the two are running. It didn't have enough juice for the Kuro and PS3.

You fool... everyone knows that you need the Platinum plated $100 MonsterPower cables for best results!

Only $100??! Why did you cheap out on your cables??!! Don't you know that you won't be able to pass 197Hz 12876x12760 resolution with 76bit deep color father than 2in with those cables?
