I bought this Microsoft Wireless Optical Pro 2.0 keyboard and mouse set. Basically the mouse doesn't track well. Like I'll move the mouse and then it's slow to move or it doesn't move. I know the mouse isn't defective because I already returned one that was doing the same exact thing. Right now I just have a regular mouse pad I got from some training I went to.

ditch the optical and get a laser (about $50 on sale) it will track on almost anything... but i find that on my bare wooden desk an optical mouse works well, not on mousepad

Make sure the receiver is close enough and on the same level. I have a logitech mx700 and when i first got it, the cord was too short so i had to place the base on the other side of the desk. The tracking was terrible. I got a usb extension cable so i could put it close to where i use the mouse and now it works great.

Tracking was bad on mine (intellimouse explorer 2.0) when the batteries were "critically low" and the receiver was about 3 feet away
i can be like 6-8 feet away w/ new batteries

I have the same set as you, I bought a $20 mouse pad hard plastic but it's still to soft, cleaning it all the time helps but I seen a mousepad it was like $25 in Canada that looked really sweet I think it was a 3M and the sarface is really hard called a proformce opitical prosicoin mouse pad I think, I opened the pack and felt it, nice.

Yeah get rid of your old form Mouse pad for sure and get a really good hard one our use your desk or table.

I need one for gaming, I was going to buy a new mouse but I like mine and I was looking a pads and relised mine was way to soft.

Oh yeah I forgot I have to have the Reciever really close to my mouse like 5 inches for it to work well also.
