What kind of spider is this

Deeko

Not a great picture, but whatever:

Linking so the anti-spider people don't have to see

Scrunched up in the corner it was about 1.5" long. Out in the open it was a bit bigger. Would have taken a picture then but it was a fast little ah heck and it needed to meet Dr Addidas.

It had about the biggest body of a spider I've actually seen in person, not in a zoo or something.

You should have worked for the Bush administration. You mercilessly attacked and killed an innocent, who was doing nothing harmful to you, and you did so on the sole fact that it was a spider and therefore had the potential to poison you.

Everyone knows this.

I've seen those in my area too. They're WAY bigger than they should be allowed to be (like tarantula sized!). I'd be curious to know what it is as well.

If you're finding them in your "area" perhaps you should consult a physician.

Ack, I find those in my house sometime, I had no idea they got THAT big. 😱

It's not the spiders themselves that really bother me, it's the spider webs. Bigger the spider, thicker, and bigger the webs are, naturally.

The good news is though, spiders do eat other bugs.

Bad picture is bad.

But it looks like a common funnel web weaver. More or less harmless, and they take up the habitat, compete for food and sometimes even eat nastier spiders like brown recluses and hobo spiders.

That said, I would still nuke it from orbit. Preferrably with hairspray and a lighter.

So you killed it already... do you need the ID for some kind of serial killer trophy mentality? Or justification? Are you a girl?
