what kind of speaker mounts?

Need to pickup some wall mounts for my new Energy Take 5 speakers, i notice they have two keyhole hangers and a threaded hole.... My speaker locations are kind of high so i'm guessing it would be better to have something that can angle down?

what do you guys recommend?

I have Energy Take 5 and I mounted them on the wall with the mount referenced in the URL. I got mine from eBay and they came with a bunch of hardware so that you can mount with either the thread hole or key hole. I mounted mine through the thread hole.

The mount works as advertised. However, if I had to do it over, I'd spend more money and get a mount with ball joint that can pivot in all directions. This mount has 1 joint so it pivots in only 1 plane. The only additional movement is from rotating the speaker with the thread hole mount. Still, you just can't point the speaker to every direction you want. Unless all you need to adjust is either up/down or left/right after the speakers are mounted on the wall, this is one huge limitation.

How high is "kind of high"? Surrounds should be placed so that the tweeters are 3' above the ears of the listeners (which usually works out to the top of the speaker being 6' above the ground).

Edit: I just noticed that you didn't say this was just for your surrounds. It's best for your front 3 speakers' tweeters to be at ear level of the listeners. Is that not possible with your setup?

ear level is definitely not possible with my setup, my tv is mounted above my fireplace and the speakers are above the tv...... would tilting them downwards help some?

Yes. It won't be as good as having them at ear level, but it'll be much better than not tilting them down. For the front speakers, I recommend pointing them down toward the ears of the listeners. For the surrounds point them toward 3' above the ears of the listeners.
