What kind of setting is safe?

My Morgan 1Ghz Duron can run Appoximately 1.25Ghz w/ most .1 V increase.

100X12.5
133X 9.5
166X7.5

The reason I select these three setting only just to ensure that my HD and PCI devices stay w/ 33Mhz spec.
My question is, 133X9.5 is what I am running now, but I am so "seduce" w/ the ability to run it at 166FSB w/ Shuttle AK31a.

My question is....is 166FSB safe for both DDR (Crucial 2.5) and CPU???? - I am less care about my CPU since it is so much cheaper than my 512MB DDR RAM.

edit: Just for sake of it... I am running 166X6.5 (1080Mhz) at default voltage.
but.......does anyone know if Shuttle ak31a has 1/5 divider???????????????????????

Is there any program that will tell you how fast your PCI bus running at?
Sisoft Sandra does NOT show me this info.

I don't know if the 166mhz FSB will keep your PCI/AGP devices in spec or not with the shuttle mobo, but I do know there is a very low risk of you damaging your RAM. It's much more likely that you would damage your CPU or motherboard, and those are still rare at 166 (asuming proper cooling (keep your cpu < 50*c)).

Check your BIOS.

BIOS doesn't has this clock divider information though...

i don't think its safe to run your CPU at 1V increase. 1.75 is default right?, so that'd be 2.75V.......a 60 percent increase in voltage..........:Q

what kinda cooling do you have?

first of all, i don't think its safe to run your CPU at 1V increase. 1.75 is default right?, so that'd be 2.75V.......a 60 percent increase in voltage..........:Q

i wouldn't worry about damaging your cpu or ram. But i suggest tryint something lower first. I think its safer trying 150 bus first before jumping up to 166mhz.

I think he meant 0.1v increase (that would 1.85v, a very common overclocking setting).

sorry, my mistake.......... I meant .1 V.
since I can run 166X6.5 at default.

Again, how do I know if this mobo has 1/5 divider or not?

My guess would be that if it's no specifically available in the BIOS it doesn't have it. I only know of like 3 motherboards that have that feature and it tends to be with more overclocking-designed boards like an Abit. Odds are though that your PCI devices would have no problem with a 150Mhz FSB, so go ahead & try it.

Dude I'm looking at my PCI Bus speed in Sandra right now. Under:

Mainboard Information
PCI Bus(es)
Version 2.10
No. Buses 1
No. Bridges 1
Bus Speed 36MHz
Speed Multiplier 1/4x

Plain as day...look again. I use Sandra Professionsl Version 1.10.8.39 but it's not the newest version. The above is with my FSB at 142.
