He wants to start it from farther than 60 feet, but the remote start keyfob doesn't have that kind of range.

Um... Sitting inside your house early in the cold morning and not wanting to walk your ass out within 60 feet of the car to use the remote start. Sixty feet may seem like a lot, but it's really not.

parking your car 60feet from your house if pretty far, mine is like 9 feet outside the kitchen window in the driveway

Some of us have larger estates that do not provide the ability to park in the living room.

We don't have a "gerrage" but we do have a paved parking lot that fits six cars next to our house in place of the "garrage." :D

which one did you get? The guy at the best buy here said the 380 dollar viper system should go about half a mile or something like that.

I'd be very luck if it's even 60 feet.

If I'm that stinkin' close to the car why not just start it manually?

60 feet is about 25 or less steps...The whole purpose was to be able to start the car from inside a house or building so I don't have to walk outside on a cold winter day, start it, then walk back inside the house/buliding as the car warms up. Lazy? Yes but I can get so much done in that 3 minutes that it takes me to walk outside, start the car and walk back inside, take off my wet shoes. Like finish breakfast.

Stick the fob under your chin and open your mouth slightly, then hit the button to start it. It will work much further.

Tells you the status of the car alarm; whether its been tripped, whether its running or not, etc.
