I am looking at Ram for my new machine and I am way over my head. What are all these numbers? CAS latency or 5-5-5-12 numbers? What speed should I get? Any help?

What processor/motherboard are you using?

there's 2 different types of ram used in systems that most people would be running, ddr-1 and ddr-2. If you're system is kinda old (3-4 years) it's probably on ddr-1. Make sure you buy memory around the same speed (MHZ) as your motherboard is rated for, as buying higher speed ram that your mobo cant run is just throwing away money. The other numbers are known as timings; the lower they are the faster the ram is, generally.

cliffs:

- timings: lower = better
- Frequency (MHZ): higher = better
- tell us your mobo/system manufacturer and date/processor so we can tell you if you need ddr-1 or ddr-2 or w/e.

I'm certain no expert on OCing, but I understand that buying ram with higher speed is useful at above standard settings. However, I have no experience with this.

I haven't much experience in PSUs, but I'd say go for a reliable brand name like Seasonic or OCZ and make sure it has at least two PCI-E power connectors. As far as I'm concerned, "SLi ready" anything is just marketing noise, but if you make sure you get a PSU with high enough wattage, decent efficiency, strong 12V rails and two PCIe power connectors you should have no problems.

1T is the command rate as always with memory, a lower number is faster. However, only the Nvidia 650i 680i boards for the c2D support 1T command rate thus far.
