What kind of RAM?

You tell if RAM is fast by checking the CAS latencies and speeds (PC-3200, PC-3500, etc)

Well I really don't know what you mean, but if you want to know ram latency, you can run a program called Everest by Lavalys, which benchmarks your ram.
 
The golden rules should be:

- unless you are overclocking, don't buy anything above PC3200
- unless you are too cheap to spend extra $5-10, there is no reason to settle for PC2100 or PC2700 so get PC3200
- unless you know what ram latencies are, buy the cheaper, reliable PC3200 from a reputable brand and retailer
- in the time of rising/high ram prices, buying More ram is better than buying Faster or Low latency ram

Hey, does anyone know if PC4000 will work in a board that only supports 266mhz, 333mhz, and 400mhz? And can you tone the clock speed down if not? Help!
 
Yes, it will work, although it will just automatically run at 400mhz. The whole point in having PC-3500, etc is for OC'ers. Since the RAM runs with the FSB, when you OC the FSB, you up the speeds of your RAM. Therefore if your RAM is already able to deal with those speeds (PC3500), you won't have to worry about loosening the CAS latenices. Sorry if you don understand, just read around at different places. That's how I learned

if you are overclocking go with the XMS, it is a very good cahnce you will end up with the Samsung TCCD modules, I did, and tthey overclock awesomely
