The same kind of interface on every laptop hard drive, the SATA 3.0gb/s laptop interface. If it doesn't look like a standard interface, it may have an adapter on it for some laptop models, but I do believe the Dell Vostros plug straight in. You're going to need the laptop SATA interface to connect with it.

Is it like a sata only with a small power plug?

Yeah that looks about right. But it had no power plug.
It has 4 pins which I guess are power, 7 pings and then another 17-20 pins.

The adapter or the drive had these interfaces?
The sata side is the same as any sata cable. The power is just half sized. I think they stopped making them because, it's annoying and saves very little space.
I have no idea what the extra 17-20 pins are? Never seen it. Does the drive have 4 pin molex power?

In addition to the caddy, how about a pin adapter that pulls off? The naked 2.5 SATA drive only has two connectors - one power and one data. Here's an example of what I mean - this is a HP caddy with a Seagate PATA drive - and the small item on the right is a pin adapter that removes separate from the caddy.

It fits very snugly and needs a twist of a knife blade to remove it.

17-20 pins? That is a PATA interface - not SATA. And, you are possibly looking at the caddy interface as well. A standard PATA 2.5-in drive includes the power pins. Here is a direct comparison of PATA and SATA 2.5-in drives without any proprietary caddy or carrier:
