"Riding the Fourth Wave" is one of the catchiest ska instrumentals I've ever heard, especially with that celtic pipe at the beginning.

if it sounds good, i can listen to pretty much anything. out of the mainstream genre's though, i cant get into country or trance (and all of its variations). but ive gone through phases in my life where one genre gets more attention than others. but my favorite artists or bands of all time are: rage against the machine, stevie wonder, mos def and the beatles.

It's all a matter of opinion.

Time will tell. As decades pass, the crap falls by the wayside, and is forgotten. The "good stuff" is still selling, and still being played.

Blues and blues derivitaves are my favorite. Really good blues or a live blues band just makes me melt.
Metal, classic rock, classical, and most anything else does it for me in the right mood.
I like some of every type of music.
I enjoy very little rap.

Oh course it is. However all tho9se tunes you have listed I've heard thousands of times and I would be bored out of my mind if that was all there was to listen too.

"Classical music" primarily from the Baroque, Classical, and early Romantic periods. That consumes about 80-90% of my listening time, and the remaining 10-20% is filled with groups like Delerium, Enigma, Chicane, etc.

Catch22 has their own unique ska sound, but check out:

RBF - Turn the Radio Off
LTF - Losing Streak and Hello Rockview
Op Ivy - Energy (classic ska from the 80s)
The Aquabats - The Fury of The Aquabats (hilarious ska album)
Pietasters - Willis
Toasters - Hard Band for Dead

That's what my wife says, but when I ask for examples of "good" new music, she gives me suggestions like, Smashing Pumpkins, Creed, Garbage (I actually like that somewhat), Daft Punk, Green Day...
Try some Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Audioslave, Rage Against the Machine, Tool, Nirvana etc. There is plenty of 'new' music that is good, just no 'new, new' music thats any good.

Yeah, there's a few things I could check out. The secretary at work plays a station with a mix of tunes. Some new ones sound fine, but from what I hear, you'll get one decent song on an album, and the balance is crap.

Well the abundance of quality. However there are still some good new or fairly new groups out there. For instance the White Stripes, Gorilla (I've only heard 1 song which sounded like a cross between Ray Davies of the Kinks and old NWA), the Ceasars and such. Now I'm not saying that any of these groups will attain legendary status like the ones you listed but they are rather refreshing and it seems to me that they have a lot of talent and creativity.

LOL, only one of those bands is new and Audio Slave is actually a combination of two old groups.

...and Alice in Chains. And if you never liked Nirvana's music, I would recommend at least giving the Unplugged album a chance. The covers they did were really good.

The problem with defining a band as "classic" or "legendary" is a generational one. The generation you represent, Ornery, carried your bands from your youth into your adult years. Today's youth want everything new and anything that was popular a week ago is uncool. Bands today aren't given a chance.

Well they are still relatively new compared to what hes listening to. And Audioslave is just the sh!t.

New album coming out May 24th and their playing in Cuba right now. First US band to do so.

Yep, the recording industry isn't doing as much to help a lot of the newer bands plus Monopolies like Clear Channel is canning Rock Stations left and right to pander to the increasing Spanish Speaking population...c*** suckers!
