I've got an old USR 56k modem, but the model number isnt listed.

I have this on the modem:

Sportster 0460

and just under some bar code:

21N62B37ATJU 32178700 R:2

There is also another code, but I don't think it means much

Looks like you have an old X2 type modem. The thing about these things is that they aren't V90 natively and most ISPs don't use plain x2 anymore. I recall that I ran a V90 Flash on an older USR modem but at one time I also had to trade one in for the latest V90 compatibility. I'm not sure if this one might be flashable or not.

I got the info by going to WinDrivers.com and entering in the modem number 178700 into the "search for drivers" box. I didn't really look over the info that came back other than to surmise it was an X2 modem...
