What kind of Mechanical Pencils do you prefer? (im finaly ready to make the move...)

Im getting tired of sharpening regular pencils, what kind of Mechanical Pencils should i buy? .5 vs .7 lead, what brand pencil?

Get some Pentel .5s. They're great and not very expensive.

.5s cuz there compatible with a lot more pencils and write just like a #2 pencil

.5 for me usually.. unless I'm doing many scantron type tests, then I'll get a .9 and up.

I like Pentel's offering. Right now I'm using their Techniclick.

I use .5 lead in a Pentel QuickerClicker (I think that's the name of it; it's the one with the clicker on the side rather than the top)

.7 is only good for yes scantrons or if u like writing really big

Pentel Forte A55 0.5mm... They last forever. Not very expensive.

I use .7 lead but even that is too thin for me. I go through a crazy amount of lead because I break it so much. I guess I write "too hard" according to my friend.

Anyone know what brand those pencils are that only let u extend the lead out to a certain length...the main reason i havent switched to lead pencils because im an idiot and i always screw around and break all the lead...

I've always disliked that style of pencil.

The one's I've had always made a wierd squeaking noise when I wrote and it drove me up the wall!

My current favorite is a Pilot Dr. Grip 0.5mm. Been using the same one for almost 3 years now.

(only has 2 pens and a pencil in his bag).

I have a yellow Pentel .3 lead pencil that has been with me for years and years. I mainly use it for drawing. But my artistic talent has been on hiatus for a number of years, so it doesn't get used too much anymore. Still, it's a damn fine pencil.

A pen shaped "click" eraser is important to have. Forget about using those little nubs called erasers on the mechanical pencils...

For just regular use I love Pentel. For drawing I like the Alvin Draftmatic. They even have a selector at the top for the hardness of lead.
