What kind of LCD pixel problem is this?

It took me several days of using my new laptop to
notice two pixels that show up light colored while using the "Windows Classic" blue background with Windows XP. They show up an almost light blue color. They are not visible on a primary colored blue , red or green sceen nor are they visible on a white or black screen.

They dont really bother me much but I want to know what is happening with them. Thanks

They are stuck pixels. Instead of being stuck in the off position, they are stuck in the on position. I have had this happen too, I actually prefer it if it was stuck on in a blueish tint because it will usually blend in. I hate when they are stuck off because they just stick out. I don't have this problem anymore since I replaced my LCD, but my old one had three stuck pixels, one in red, another in green, and another in blue, and I can say blue was the least annoying.

Man, looking at your pic made me all dizzy
yup, those are dead pixels, stuck pixels, can't remember the "technical" term for it, but that's basically it. unfortunately you are prob stuck w/ that problem, but it shouldn't be too bad in your case, the color and having only 2. it's an issue that you just have to accept when buying a LCD screen. my old laptop had a few, red and green ones, and while they look kinda cool for 2 secs, it's generally annoying.

the manufacs for the lcds have tolerance of like 5 deal pixels before condemning that lcd screen bad, or something like that, and they will exchange it if you have that many deal pixels, but if it's under their number oh well.. you'll just have to live w/ it..

I've noticed working pixels that have visible diferences with different color backgrounds. ie, with a solid whit background on my laptop, I can see about three "whiter" spots and one "beige-ish" spot... none of which are visible on a black or blue or whatever other color background so they do not classify as "stuck-on" pixels.

I went to Best Buy to complain about the pixels and the salesman told me that the two pixels I have are on their way out and he said they would spread. Is this correct information, do dead/dying pixels spread? He told me that they had one in the store with two dead pixels and in a week or two it had grown to the isze of a quarter.

Wrongo - I've never seen "dead pixels" spread...I think they were just trying to get you upset. I've had the same dead 2 pixels for the last 4.5 years in an old laptop I have..don't sweat it...

Someone was probably mashing the LCDs on the store to see the pretty colors :)
